The microblogging social phenomenon isn’t solely for personal blabber anymore. Twitter’s founders saw the potential of making it business-friendly, therefore opening its doors for more revenue and, more importantly, becoming a platform for brand and customer engagement.
If you’re an internet marketer from ACN INC or a new business to be introduced to the public, using Twitter as a promotion and marketing tool is a smart move. Take note though that before you launch your campaign, you have to first determine your target market, users and goal. Likewise, determine what Twitter’s role is in your business. Most likely, you’ll use the platform to raise and measure brand awareness, get suggestions and feedback, and for customer engagement. Once you’ve determined the basics, you can now move on to identifying what marketing strategy is appropriate for your purpose and goal. You might consider one or all of the following:
Host a Twitter chat: Also known as a “tweetchat“, a Twitter chat virtually gathers users to discuss a suggested or common topic. The topic, which will be in a #hashtag, depends on what you want to find out and what your chat is all about. Using a hashtag will help participants easily track the chat and join in. The hashtag-ed topic must be short and straightforward for participants to easily remember it. Set a time and date where everyone is accessible and doesn’t overlap or isn’t simultaneous with another Twitter chat of the same topic. During the chat, make sure to ask questions relevant to your goal. This way, you’ll learn more about your current followers and potential clients, what they need and what more you can improve.
Contests and Giveaways: Holding contests and giveaways attracts new followers, heightens product awareness and creates brand loyalty. Give away coveted products and exciting prizes in exchange for a good number of followers and brand promotion.
Promoted Trends and Tweets: Twitter is a great way to know what’s happening right now. Aside from checking on their timelines, users log on to check what the current trending topics are. Knowing what the trending topics are encourages them participate in the topic, or if they aren’t familiar with it, they get curious, click through and read about it. Twitter allows promoted trends and tweets which they place at the top of all trending topics. If you have some exciting news, a new product launch or an upcoming event, take advantage of promoted trends to generate more clicks and engagement.
